As Christ-followers, our focus should be on Diversity, Equity, and Belonging efforts (DEB), whereas the word “inclusion” is replaced by a more holistic sense of belonging—which I believe is the crucial lynchpin around which diversity and equity revolve.
Christ-followers are in the best position to advance DEB initiatives and movements that will stand the test of time and serve as a testament to the world. But we can only do this once we have fully grasped the two central realities of why we must see and elevate the voices and lives of those not part of the majority culture.

We all belong to God. To that end, I want to help lay the foundation for what we hope will help people elevate and include people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. I have been deeply convicted of doing this because I believe DEB is a matter of the gospel.

This can be done by making use of a process, not a one-time event, and the approach should include:
-
Definition of terms and understanding of the issues
-
Multicultural training of all constituencies
-
Cultural discovery of the self and others
-
Honest yet guided dialogue
-
Developing programs and approaches to enhance DEB systematically
-
Connecting every step to biblical truth and the love of Jesus

The Bible begins and ends with God’s loving creation and recreation of human beings who bear the image of God (Imago Dei). The whole narrative of Scripture involves the story of God’s efforts, having made us “good” and “very good.” The breakdown of human identity from the Garden of Eden onward is the unraveling of human dignity, value, and honor because of internal and external abuses of social, racial, political, and religious powers.
God has created a highly diverse array of people, each of equal value and deserving equal dignity and belonging of “every tribe, tongue, and nation.” I see a commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging as fundamental values in the Kingdom of God.
